About Me

I am currently a second year Ph.D. student at the University of Florida College of Journalism and Communications. My research interests include online youth media, journalism ethics, and the educational applications of virtual worlds like Second Life.

Prior to beginning my doctoral studies, I worked in a variety of jobs in the communications and social services fields. As a journalist, I have covered stories ranging from space science to surfing to small-town festivals.

I worked for two and a half years as a reporter and editor for newspapers, magazines, and Web sites in the Tampa Bay area. Immediately prior to coming to UF, I worked as a resource development specialist for a foster care organization in Tampa. I served there in various public relations and program building capacities to help foster youth transition out of care and into independent adulthood. If you'd like to know more, check out my CV and Clips.

I live in Gainesville with my wife Kendall and our miniature schnauzer Henry.
