Ambitions

"Don't ask what the world needs; Ask what makes you come alive, and go do it. Because what the world needs is people who have come alive." -Howard Thurman

I pride myself on having grand ambitions. They're as broad as they are big, but I know one thing for sure: I want to go wherever the changing journalism landscape will take me.

I love reporting and writing. I love meeting new people and exploring things I don't understand. I love telling stories.

Anywhere that will give me a platform for doing all of these things, either in print or on the web, is where I'd like to be. I want to contribute to an informed public, and be able to believe in what I'm doing every day.

I'd also like to teach. As the product of an inner-city high school and a Florida Opportunity Scholar it is very important to me to give back, so I plan to apply to Teach For America after I graduate. Who knows, maybe I'll write a book or two along the way.

I may not be sure of many specifics, but sharpening my ability to report and to write clearly is my goal right now. I'm also preparing to apply for various internship opportunites in New York City next summer.

Check out my resume.
