The Life of Ashley Gerlach

Welcome to my world.

My Life Now

My name is Ashley Gerlach. I'm in a web design class and this is the first Web site that I have ever hand coded. I'm pretty excited to see how this class will change the way I look at the Internet, because, believe me, it already has.

This Web site is pretty much all about me. There are several links that will take you to pages about my hobbies, China , and things to do in China if you decide to take a trip there.

I'm a third-year journalism major at the University of Florida. Sometimes I would like to be able to say that I'm just an ordinary college student, but I just don't think that's the case. I'm sure that sounds totally narcissistic, but my life has been about so much more than just me. It's been about something that's so much bigger than I am even able to grasp. I've seen things first hand that most people never even read about. I don't credit myself for any of this, I only think that it has made me different- for better or worse.

I turn 21 years old on October 31 and to celebrate I'm going on a cruise with my mom and my sister. It's supposed to be a surprise but my Grandma has Alzheimer’s disease and accidentally told me what we were doing. Sad, yet funny.

Growing Up

I was born in Pompano Beach, Fla. My family moved a lot because of my dad's job, so the place I choose to call home is West Palm Beach, Fla. I lived there for about six years before my family decided to go to China, but more about that later.

I have two amazing parents, an older sister, a younger brother, a brother-in-law, and a puppy.

I've always been really close to my family, especially my mom. When we left America she became my best friend. She's by far the strongest woman I know, which is funny because you wouldn't know how tough she is by looking at her.

In the Future

When I graduate I want to go overseas and write about issues that are affecting the rest of the world. I want to write for the International Mission Board, focusing in China.

I hope to raise awareness on behalf of people that can't speak for themselves. I can only hope that I will make a positive influence on the world. If not the world, impacting the lives of just a few people would be enough for me.
