Nick Batty's Home Page [Graves Farm]

Nick and nephew John

My favorite place to visit -- and I visit often -- is Graves Farm. It is a 300 acre cattle farm located in Lincoln County, Georgia. We have owned the farm, which we named Graves after a famous mountain visible on the horizon, for three years.

It is a working farm, and we keep about 40 head of cattle in the pasture, which comprises about half of the property's total acreage. Though the pasture is very picturesque, the woods of the property are where I feel most at home and spend most of my time. I make the drive (which takes just under six hours) about twice a month during deer and turkey season, and about once a month during the rest of the year.

When I'm not hunting, I'm trying to improve the property. I spend a lot of time ploughing and planting the ten food plots I keep for deer and turkey, as well as working on the house. Sometimes I wonder why I went to college, because I enjoy farm work so much.

Lincoln County is a very rural area, with fewer than 9,000 residents county-wide. It's a place where everyone knows everyone's business, the bank is closed on Wednesdays as well as Sundays, and sweet tea is the only drink on the menu in some of the restaurants. It's my kind of place.

This page, if you couldn't tell, was made by Nick Batty. If someone else would have created it, it would make them a stalker. If you want to know more, drop me an e-mail.
