where i like to go.

view of florence from the bell tower.

Over the summer, I studied abroad in Florence, Italy. Florence, known as "Firenze" in Italian, is undoubtedly the most beautiful city I've ever seen.

I lived in an apartment nine flights up in the middle of the city. Nine flights. No elevator. There was no air conditioning, a mini fridge and little or no storage space.

Make no mistake, through the good times and bad, it was the best experience of my entire life.

We spent a lot of time just roaming the city.

We would go to the fresh market to pick up wonderfully crisp fruits, vegetables, meats and pastas.

I joked to my parents that in Italy everything is skinnier: the beds, the streets, the sidewalks, the doorways, the cars, etc. So naturally I have come to the conclusion that Italians are obviously skinnier.

Spending time in another country definitely broadened my horizons and allowed me to view the world differently.

Needless to say, I'm already thinking about a trip back to Firenze, my home away from home.
