Welcome. My name is Mara, and I like to tell stories.

I'm a college student and an aspiring journalist. Normally I'd prefer to hear YOUR stories, but since you're here, I'll tell you my stories (or show you, actually). You can view some of my favorite pieces here. You can also see what else I've been up to with my resume or learn a little bit more about the girl behind the byline.

I am in my second year at the University of Florida, pursuing a degree in journalism. I intern as a staff writer at HOME: Living in the Heart of Florida, a community-oriented magazine that circulates to more than 30,000 residents in 12 North Florida counties. I also assist Mark McLeod in producing his radio show, "The Mark McLeod Show" on ESPN Radio Gainesville/Ocala. On top of all that, I spend a lot of time in the journalism building volunteering at WUFT-TV, coordinating information for the Florida Scholastic Press Association and working as high school outreach director for the Journalism and Communications Ambassadors. This summer, I will be interning at the Miami Herald in the multimedia department.
