About Me

My name is Corby Herschman and I'm a third-year Public Relations major, minoring in Organizational Leadership for Nonprofits, at the University of Florida. After graduation in May 2011, I'd like to work in the Development or Public Relations office of a national nonprofit organization.

I was born and raised in Sarasota, Fla. and although I love sunshine and the beach, I really enjoy winter sports like snowboarding and skiing. I have a desire to travel around the world and have been fortunate enough to visit Mexico, Germany and Spain. Currently, my dream destination is Capetown, South Africa.

This summer, I have an internship with Girls Incorporated in New York City. Girls Incorporated is a national nonprofit whose mission is to "inspire all girls to be strong, smart and bold." Their national office is located at 120 Wall Street in Manhattan. I'm really excited to learn more about development and public relations for nonprofit organizations and can't wait to spend some time in the Big Apple!

New York
City

Apart from public relations, nonprofit organizations and traveling, my passion is getting involved with student groups here at the University of Florida. I love meeting new people and learning more about event management, communications, fundraising, technology and, of course, the Gators!

I love to try new things, spend time with friends and family and read. My favorite books are The Bell Jar, The House of the Spirits and Gone with the Wind. Two of my role models are Gabrielle "Coco" Chanel and Audrey Hepburn, who once said: "Remember, if you ever need a helping hand, it's at the end of your arm, as you get older, remember you have another hand: The first is to help yourself, the second is to help others."
