Kate Heller Four years ago, I made the short but fruitful move from Jacksonville, Fla., to Gainesville, Fla. I began attending the University of Florida in 2006 as a journalism major and have loved every minute of it. During my time in the College of Journalism and Communications, I was enrolled in classes that provided activities ranging from reporting and writing to editing and designing. These classes allowed me to follow the news, read captivating novels and open my eyes to the fast-paced world of communications. My schooling will come to an end in May 2010, a staggering thought.

While in school, I contributed articles to the student-run newspaper, the Alligator and the local newspaper, the Gainesville Sun. In the summer of 2009, I worked as an editorial intern at Jacksonville Magazine where I wrote and edited for the monthly magazine and its business supplement. I am currently the Executive Editor of the Orange and Blue magazine, a student-run magazine on the University of Florida campus.

My interests rest in the industries of book publishing or magazines. This upcoming summer, I am joining the team at Maupin House Publishing Inc. in Gainesville, Fla. I am hopeful that this internship opens doors to book publishing companies throughout the country.
