BlackListed Magazine

History

The idea to start our own publication came two years ago after the Independent Florida Alligator printed a comic that included the word "nigger". This was not the sole reason for starting the publication; it only sparked the fire. After two years of organizing, we finally released the magazine this year on Martin Luther King, Jr. Day. It is available at blacklistedmagazine.org. We originally wanted to have a printed magazine, but for financial reasons we have to remain online for now.

Content

The articles include features that pertain to black college students. We discuss issues such as the Caribbean/ American divide, Barack Obama and the African American Studies Program. We also include editorials, poetry and photo galleries. Our goal now, is to make a mark on this campus and in the future, expand to other campuses.
