A few of my favorite journalism things

  1. ABC World News with Charles Gibson. I know “they” say the nightly newscast is dead, but there’s something about seeing Charlie Gibson on TV every night that is immensely comforting.
  2. The New York Times. I feel like I couldn’t really call myself a journalist if the NYT weren’t on this list.
  3. National Geographic. This publication prompted me to look into science journalism.
  4. Talk of the Nation: Science Friday. It keeps me up on developments in my chosen field.
  5. The Washington Post. Because I love politics and newspapers.
  6. Poynter Online. Romenesko, Ask the Recruiter and more. One of the most helpful and practical journalism sites.
  7. The New Yorker. I got hooked in high school by an English teacher and have been addicted ever since.
  8. The Independent Florida Alligator. I know I’m biased, but I look forward to picking it up before class every day. The editorial cartoons are more often brilliant than not.
  9. Newsweek magazine. My parents have subscribed for as long as I can remember. I started reading it in the bathroom when I was 9 years old because I wasn’t sure if I was allowed, but I had to get my weekly “My Turn” fix.
  10. This American Life. I wait for Sunday nights every week because I can download the podcasts.
