Most people call me Cassie. I have also gone by Castle, Cassfell, Casseroli, etc., but as I'm getting older and starting to consider life as an adult, I'm starting to like Cassandra as a professional identity. I was born November 22, 1986, in Nyack, New York. I like to think of my life as an adventure that has only just begun to unfold, and I'm trying to pack as much in as possible.
When I first got to college, I almost became one of those horrible statistics you hear about freshmen getting killed. Six weeks in to the fall semester of 2004, I fell four stories onto my face from a ledge outside my dorm room to the concrete driveway below. I broke my left ankle, both my arms, partially crushed my brow and cheekbones, and fractured my pelvis in four places. I had to go through emergency surgery, medically withdraw from UF, rehabilite my titanium-reinforced limbs, and wait two months until I could learn to walk again. All before my 18th birthday. Three and a half years later, I feel like it happened to someone else. But I if that didn't kill me, I think must be here for a reason, which is a nice thought to keep me grounded when life gets stressful.
