Bill Shields is a native of Charleston, West Virginia. He graduated from the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill in 1967 and the University of Virginia Law School in 1974. He was a law clerk for the Virginia Supreme Court in 1974.
He is a seasoned trial lawyer in the area of civil litigation with over 30 years experience in his field. His successes include a $1.5 million verdict in an automobile accident case, $1 million and $5 million worker's compensation settlements, a $1.8 million auto accident settlement, and numerous six-figure settlements or verdicts. Mr. Shields' practice is primarily concentrated on complex litigation, including personal injury, medical malpractice, workers' compensation and employment-related matters. He does substantial business litigation.
Mr. Shields has been a frequent speaker at continuing legal education seminars and is a member of the American Trial Lawyers Association, the Virginia State Bar, the Virginia Trial Lawyers Association and the Chesterfield County Bar Association. Mr. Shields is also a former president of the Richmond Trial Lawyers Association and is listed in Who's Who in American Law.
