Traveling Through Black & White

Photography, as a powerful
medium of expression and
communications, offers an
infinite variety of perception,
interpretation and execution.
-Ansel Adams

Photography is an art that can be done by anyone, no matter what age, gender or level of experience. Photography has the ability to capture an instant moment with the click of a shutter and transform the mechanics of the situation into physical art. It is a way to record the happenings of life in a raw sense.

Subjects are unlimited. They may range from ordinary objects of daily life, such as a tree or pencil, to the extraordinary, such as the last seconds of an Olympic race.

There are endless possibilities for photography. Something as simple as the angle at which the photograph is taken can change the meaning or beauty of it.

I have always been interested in photography but more recently became more than just an observer. I studied abroad in Florence, Italy during the summer of 2003 and learned the basics of black and white photography. I enjoy capturing my traveling experiences through the lens of my camera.

I am greatly inspired by my favorite photographer Henri Cartier-Bresson who is known for the concept of 'decisive moment.'
