Interning at NewsRadio 610 WIOD

All about Me

My name is Christina Kautz. I am a senior at the University of Florida in Gainesville, Florida. I am majoring in Journalism with an emphasis in reporting. I also have a minor in Criminology. When I graduate, I hope to have a job with NewsRadio 610 WIOD in Miramar, Florida. I interned there this summer and absolutely loved it.

The internship at WIOD completely changed my future. It helped me realize that I did not want to work for a newspaper. Now, I want to concentrate on working for either radio or television. Ideally, I would love to have my own radio program or be an anchor for one of the cable or network television stations.

In my spare time, I like to shop, watch TV, hang out with friends, travel (especially to the Keys) and read.

I'm very active in my sorority, Alpha Delta Pi. I am also a member of The College of Journalism and Communications Ambassadors. It's a new program that started in the fall of last year. I'm a co-chair for the mentoring program. We help freshman, transfer students and anyone else that needs guidance in the college. We also go to local Gainesville high schools and help them with their publications.

On top of all that, I am the Spotlight editor at INsite Magazine, an entertainment magazine for the City of Gainesville. I am responsible for getting the contact information, assigning the stories and making sure the writers finish their stories on time.
