This is my parents and I after I had received my bachelor's degree from the film studies program at the University of Pittsburgh in 2001. After graduating, I took a year off to figure out what I wanted to do with my life. Midway through the year, while taking photography courses at Pittsburgh Filmmakers, I made the decision to apply to the journalism program as a post-baccalaureate student at the University of Florida. At the time I was unaware that I could study photojournalism in the mass communications master's program so after my first semester I upgraded my status. Now I am in my second semester at UF, enrolled as a full-time graduate student. Outside of academia, most of time is spent working as the assistant photo editor for the Independent Florida Alligator in Gainesville.
For the most part, I grew up in Dayton, Ohio. I have also lived outside of Philadelphia (born in Bryn Mawr), Edison, New Jersey, Detroit, Michigan and London, England, where I spent a semester studying abroad in 1999.
I have three sisters, one younger and two older. I am currently 24 years old.
