Currently I am a second-semester telecom master's student at the University of Florida. Prior to that I received my Bachelor's in Electronic Media from Morehead State University in Morehead, Kentucky. I originally am from what used to be West Germany. That's were I spent most of my childhood and teenage years, with the exception of the fourth grade when my family and I lived in Tunisia and my junior year which I spent in Morehead as a foreign exchange student. Confused yet?

Here's a little glimpse at who I am and what I am all about...

I hope you dance

--Leeann Womack

I hope you never lose your sense of wonder

I know I sure haven't! I first came to this world in June of 1976, in Muelheim an der Ruhr, Germany. And it seems there hasn't been a dull moment since. Having attended schools on four different continents has made me very aware of cultural differences. I consider myself to be a very open-minded person who's always ready to learn about new perspectives. With every new place I go, person I meet, or lesson I learn, I realize how much more there's still out there I don't know...

You get your fill to eat but always keep that hunger

"Far away there in the sunshine are my highest aspirations. I may not reach them, but I can look up and see their beauty, believe in them, and try to follow where they lead."

--Louisa May Alcott

I believe in making my dreams come true. It may take time and lots of hard work, but nothing is impossible if you believe in it enough. One of my biggest dreams came true when I had the chance to return to Kentucky to go to college. I truly had the time of my life. Other dreams still left to accomplish: (1) becoming a full-time reporter for a major radio or TV network, (2) finally getting my permanent residency, (3) learning how to fly... and many more!

May you never take one single breath for granted

I learned that lesson all too well when my father nearly died in an accident which permanently disabled him when I was 13.

God forbid love to ever leave you empty handed

I consider myself to be very lucky because I have two families. My family in Germany, and my host family in Kentucky. I love them all very much, and I wouldn't be where I am today without all of their help. I will always be thankful for all they've done for me.

I hope you still feel small when you stand beside the ocean

I love the outdoors, and nature's beauty never ceases to amaze me. Whenever I need to really think about something or get away, I always go to one of my favorite outdoor places. I got my love for the outdoors from my grandpa. The times I spent with him and the rest of my family at our cabin in the woods near the Rhine River (about two hours away from the industrial urban area where I grew up) make up some of my happiest childhood memories. That's why I felt right at home when I moved to Kentucky. The scenery there is a lot like the area around our cabin in Germany. Living in Florida is great, but I miss those hills and endless winding country roads of Appalachia.

Whenever one door closes I hope one more opens

I've seen good times, and some pretty bad ones, but it's true that there's always a rainbow after the storm. I just wish I was more patient sometimes to see it shine.

Promise me that you'll give faith a fighting chance

There's been a few times in my life when faith was all I had, but it never dissapointed me.

And when you get the chance to sit it out or dance

I hope you dance

I hope you dance

You bet! I am a Gemini, and if there's one thing I really like to do it's socialize and party! Besides my current crazy schedule (three jobs and school), I always make sure I have some fun, too. After all, I wouldn't want my life to pass me by.

I hope you never fear those mountains in the distance

I believe life is all about taking chances. You can't succeed if you don't try. Of course I've failed a few times, but I guess the important thing is to keep getting up after being knocked down. After all, I think success is defined not so much by how far you've come, but what it took you to get there.

Never settle for the path of least resistance

I've come close to taking the easy way out a few times, but in the end I tend to risk losing sight of the shore for a while to discover new lands. It would be a shame to one day think "I wish I'd done this or that...."

Living might mean taking chances, but they are worth takin'

Loving might be a mistake, but it's worth makin'

I believe everything happens for a reason, and though we may not see it at the time, I agree with Garth Brooks when he says to be thankful for "unanswered prayers". Luckily, I also have several good "friends in low places," should the need for them ever arise. And if all that fails, there's always "Towanda!"

Don't let some hell bent heart leave you bitter

When you come close to selling out reconsider

In my line of work you have to be pretty determined. Media jobs are very competitive, and I have met several people in the field who have tried their best to discourage me from becoming a reporter by telling me I'll never make it. But I like challenges, and the more people tell me I can't do something, the harder I'll try to prove them wrong. There have also been some who tried to get me to compromise my integrity for a juicier story. I have come to learn that no job or story is worth forfeiting what I believe is right.

Give the heavens above more than just a passing glance

And when you get the chance to sit it out or dance

I hope you dance!
