I am a third year student at the University of Florida currently pursuing a dual degree in journalism and psychology, as well as a minor in Spanish. Throughout my time at UF, I have been involved with the Circle-K service organization, as well as the After School Gators Program, a peer mentoring service at Williams Elementary here in Gainesville. I am also a member of Golden Key Honor Society and Delta Epsilon Iota. I have loved my time at UF and could never have seen myself as anything but a Gator.

Originally a South Florida native, I spent the better half of my childhood in West Palm Beach, Florida, with a few years also in Mount Juliet, Tennessee. I am the daughter of Steve and Sherry Stinson, with one sibling, an older brother named Nathaniel. He lives just outside of Nashville in Brentwood, Tennessee, with his wife, Stephanie, and two sons, Overton and Noah.

Between having access to a pool and after countless viewings of Disney’s “The Little Mermaid,” I have always had an affinity for the water. During my sophomore year of high school, we moved back to South Florida, and I began attending Suncoast Community High School. There, I participated in swim team all three years, as well as trying water polo my senior year, the first year a team was formed.

I have worked the past three summers as a lifeguard and swim instructor at Culver Woodcraft Camp, which is part of the Culver Military Academy’s Summer School in Culver, Indiana. My father attended their winter boarding school for five years, graduating in 1965. The campus is located on the shores of Lake Maxinkuckee and has participants attend from all 50 states and 29 countries worldwide.

Some interests of mine not mentioned above include: scuba diving, running, camping/backpacking, photography, singing and theatre, basketball, traveling, writing, and reading, among other things.
