Comparison of Bollywood and Hollywood

Did you know that Bollywood is bigger than Hollywood in relation to the number of movies it produces per year? In fact, Bollywood, the Indian equivalent of Hollywood is the largest movie industry in the world. Entertainment is big business in India!
Bollywood includes a variety of regional language movies, but the majority of its output is produced in the Hindi language. There are also a large number of cross-cultural movies being made in India today, which incorporate English as their central language. Movie stars like Shahrukh Khan, Aishwarya Rai and John Abraham, have fan bases in countries like America, South Africa and the United Kingdom, due to their Indian immigrant populations.

The Indian fashion industry too has gone global. Women in India started taking fashion more seriously, after Aishwarya Rai and Sushmita Sen captured the Miss World and Miss Universe titles respectively in 1994. Not only has fashion become a priority for the average Indian, but it has also given an impetus to designers all over the country to go global.
Indian designers have graced the runways of New York, Paris, Milan and London, to name a few. Fashion designers like Ashish Soni, Ritu Beri, and Manish Arora have all shown their lines abroad. Young gun Sabyasachi Mukherjee was also invited display his creativity at the famous Bryant Park in New York at the beginning of 2007.
