Hi. My name is Jaime Sloane. I’m a multimedia journalist at the University of Florida specializing in music coverage. I will graduate in 2012 with a Bachelor’s degree in Online Journalism and a minor in Leadership.
My journalistic endeavors began in high school where I served as the Editor-in-Chief of the newspaper, leading a staff of 30 students and learning how to cover every type of news. In college, I refined my reporting skills by contributing news pieces for UF’s newspaper The Alligator and the city’s newspaper The Gainesville Sun.
Although my professional journalistic experience spans the entire writing spectrum, my passion lies within music coverage. Growing up watching Cameron Crowe’s masterpiece “Almost Famous”, I dreamed of a career spent touring with musicians and translating their performances into writing so others could be part of the magic. I’ve spent the last five years immersing myself in the ever-expanding electronic music scene, scribbling notes down backstage at every concert I can cover.
Today, you can read my music critiques on a variety of publications - I’m the Electronic Music Editor for Joonbug Productions, the Managing Editor for Electrify Mag, and a Contributing Writer for Less Than 3. I pride myself on bringing a fresh outlook to an at-times repetitive blogging world, writing and rewriting until my articles display the utmost levels of fairness, innovativeness and excitement.
