What do I do?
Although I'm not a professional yet, I do have some work experience. If you read my resume, you will see that I have worked for "The Independent Florida Alligator" for more than one year. The Alligator is the largest student run daily newspaper in the country. This year, the Princeton Review ranked it in the top 10 college newspapers in the country. Although the paper is associated with the University of Florida it has been independent for more than 40 years.
I started out at the paper as a stringer. But after only a semester, I was hired to write about Student Government. I have been writing about SG for three semesters. I know, Student Government, how important is that? But at UF, our SG controls a budget of $18 million of students' money. My job consists of attending the weekly Student Senate meetings, the weekly Senate committee meetings and the sporadic UF Supreme Court hearings.
Although Student Government is my beat, I occasionally dabble in other areas, like campus news and events, breaking news and even some fun features.
