Fun on the Beach
I love being a beach bum. My family has vacationed to the beach at least three times a year since I was born, so I grew up on the shores of the Gulf of Mexico. We lived about an hour away from Panama City Beach, Fla., which is one of the most beautiful beaches in the country. I read my first chapter book on the beaches of Panama City, helped along by my parents. I have so many fun memories with my family and friends just hanging out on the beach or in whatever beach house we were staying in.
During my high school and junior college days, it wasn't uncommon for a big group of my friends to just skip school and spend the whole day lying in front of Club La Vela or Spinnaker. We would stay on the beach all day and sometimes all night, depending on what was happening in town. The beach is where I discovered my love of reading, my hatred of jellyfish and my complete lack of coordination when it comes to anything vaguely athletic, whether it be beach volleyball or wakeboarding. It's my favorite place to be, and I wouldn't trade those memories for anything.
