My name is Kristen Morrell. I am a third year political science and journalism major at the University of Florida. I was born in Jacksonville, FL, but moved to Tampa when I was six-years-old and have lived there ever since. Although most people think I'm Asian, I'm actually half Cuban and half American. My dad's parents moved from Cuba the year after Fidel Castro came to power in order to provide a better life for themselves and their children. My mother's parents are of German descent and are related to some pretty influential people like Abraham Lincoln and Milton Hershey.
This year, I am really trying to narrow down my interests and decide which path I want to take after graduation. I'm considering a career as a political analyst, government communications director or maybe even a lawyer. I received hands on experience working in both fields this past summer during my two internships. I interned for U.S. Representative Dennis Ross at his district office and for the Osprey Observer, which is a local newspaper where I'm from.
You are now looking at the first website I have ever created. I am taking a course called Communication on the Internet which requires that I create my own website using HTML5 and CSS3. I definitely wouldn't say coding is the easiest thing in the world to do, but it's actually quite fun. I love being able to use my creativity and establish my own space on the world wide web.
