Where have I been?
Until coming to college, I had never been outside of the United States. However, following my freshman year, I was able to go to Turkey for more than two weeks. It was more than I could have imagined.
The first thing that caught my eye was the bread. As an American, I am used to a general loaf of bread. On the first night I was there, my eyes were opened to a whole new cuisine.
Also, I was able to spend time at a local university and spend time with the college kids there. It was a great experience. Despite living across the world, there were many things we could connect on. On some level, I think people are not all together that different. My time in Turkey opened my eyes to that, as well. I hope to one day return to Turkey and maybe even learn the Turkish language if I spend enough time there.
