During Summer B in 2006 I studied abroad at the University of Cambridge. I spent most of my five weeks in Cambridge, but I also took weekend trips to Stonehenge, France and Germany. Picture at Stonehenge

Visiting Stonehenge was one of the best experiences of my life. To stand in front of a structure that was built thousands of years ago, yet is still standing, made me feel insignificant, but not in a negative way. Standing there made me realize how much people are connected and how what humans did so long ago still impact us today. That weekend I also visited Wells Cathedral, which was built in the 12th century and houses the second oldest clock in the world.

A second trip I took while staying in Cambridge was to France and Germany. In Germany we went to a Nazi concentration camp that was in operation through most of the war. The camp was on the side of a majestic mountain; it was so peaceful and calm. The serenity of the situation made it so difficult to imagine the horrors that took place there. While in France, I was able to see the Maginot Line. We were able to climb into one of the pill boxes the French were in while the Germans shot at them. The bullet holes were visible on the outside of the box.

These two weekend trips helped make my study abroad experience absolutely amazing. I would recommend this trip or another study abroad trip to anyone.
