Some Background

I was born on April 18, 1986 in Hollywood, Florida. I am lucky enough to share a birthday with Conan O'Brien and Florida Marlins third baseman Miguel Cabrera. I have grown up in the same city my entire life, and have always lived blocks away from the beach. I love being a Florida girl!

I am a junior at the great University of Florida, majoring in Journalism and minoring in Business Administration. After I graduate, I would either like to continue on to law school, or work at a news organization in the new media department.

When I am not studying, I work on campus for UF Video and Collaboration Services, and have since February of 2005. I have been trained in a slew of new technologies, including internet streaming, rich multimedia presentations, video conferencing and much more. I get paid for a second education, so it is a job I couldn't be happier with.

I have also worked as a certified Water Safety Instructor for the Red Cross, teaching children and adults how to swim. This job was challenging, but certainly the most rewarding. There is nothing more satisfying than seeing improvements in student's swimming skills because of how you are helping. It is a great feeling, and alot of fun.

I live in University Commons with my friends Jenn, Lin and Mary. I have the three best roommates on the planet and there is never a dull moment in our apartment! I like to listen to music by all kinds of artists, especially Led Zeppelin, the Beatles, the Rolling Stones, John Mayer, Jack Johnson, Bob Marley and many, many others. A few of my favorite movies are Almost Famous, American Beauty, Big Fish, Love Actually, The Notebook and the Godfather. There are way too many great movies to have just one favorite! I just got over my anti-Apple stint and bought my first iPod. I don't know why it took me so long, because now I can't leave home without it.
