Mercer University was founded in Penfield, Ga. in 1833 by prominent Georgia Baptist leader, Jesse Mercer. The campus was later moved to Macon in 1871. Mercer began as a small liberal arts college, but now is the only independent university of its size in the U.S. to boast programs of study in nine different fields. Mercer is also consistently ranked by "U.S. News and World Report" as one of the leading universities in the South.
While Mercer is a wonderful school, and I could continue on about its rich and interesting history, that is not the purpose of this website. You can visit Mercer's website for more information, as well as application materials, etc.
However, as a former student, I would like to provide you, the future Mercerian, with a few tips about how to survive at Mercer, and in Macon, Ga. for the next four years.
This is clearly not your typical school website. I like to think of it as a guide for places to eat and have fun, as well as tips on professors and a brief insight into Greek Life at Mercer!
So, enjoy! And, please drop me a line with questions or comments. I would love to hear from you!
