During my time in Avignon, my classes had several excursions. This photo was taken on an island off of Marseille. It is adjacent to Chateau D'If, the prison depicted in The Count of Monte Cristo.

Another excursion was to Les Baux. Les Baux is an ancient city carved out of the rocky cliffs of the mountains. Its narrow streets and quaint shops still maintain the essence of their historic beginnings. By the way, the pigtails were required in order for me to be able to yodel!

We also made trips to L'Orange and St. Remy. We were able to see the regions that inspired Vincent Van Gogh and many other famous artists who visited the South of France.
