A Gatorade truck goes up in flames on I-75 backing up traffic for miles. I was there. Gator fans at the Swamp Restaurant feel misery as the basketball team falls to Creighton in a crushing last second three-pointer. I was there. Gubernatorial candidate Bill McBride visits Gainesville. I was there. As News 5 Chief Forecaster, I also provided North-Central Florida with accurate weather coverage during the 2001 Atlantic Hurricane Season.

News 5 has won numerous awards in the past, including the 2002 Society of Professional Journalists Mark of Excellence Region 3 'Best Television Daily Newscast' 1st place award. Our newsroom is located on the ground floor of Weimer Hall on the University of Florida campus.
