A group of friends decided to go to Russia for spring break 2001. The Ya- Ya's et. al were going to go play! One of the people in our crew is a Russian professor at Florida State University and that made our lives a whole lot easier. There were a total of 10 of us in all.

I flew from Amsterdam to Moscow on Monday, March 12. When I arrived at 6:30pm I had a car and driver waiting for me and I was taken straight to the hotel. Our crew had a prime location! I could look out my hotel window and see the Kremlin!! The others in the group arrived 2 days before me so they were getting a handle on their jet lag. I was the only one who came from the Continent. Fortunately there was only a 2 hour time difference from the Netherlands, but 8 hours from Tallahassee, Fl.

Half liters of vodka were cheaper than bottled water! The exchange rate was about 28 rubles to the dollar. Good vodka could be bought for 70 rubles!! Craziness! I didn't bring any back with me but others in the group did.
