The 1998 Season
The 1998 season began with Florida ranked #3 in the nation, but that did not last long after an early season overtime loss to Tennessee in knoxville. The Gators then won seven straight, but in the 11th game of the season they lost to FSU in Tallahassee. Florida earned a bid to a bowl game and played Syracuse in Miami's Orange Bowl. Florida beat Syracuse 31-10 shuttung down star quarterback Donavan McNabb.
