Ko Chang Sunset

Ko Chang is Thailand's third largest island situated off the northeast coast between Bankok and the Cambodian border. Some of the island is a marine preserve which thankfully has left it far less developed than many of the other islands and resorts in Thailand. The food is fantastic and the bungalows rustic in this nature lover's haven. Ko Chang is home to one of the world's deadliest snakes--the King Cobra. This photo of the sun setting was taken from the porch of my $1.50 bungalow that I shared with my Norwegian travel partner.

Treehouse in Ko Chang

Built using only natural materials, the treehouse is a backpacker's dream. For 30 cents, you can sleep on the floor as the waves crash underneath you. This beach on Ko Chang is isolated and accesible only by boat. The beach sands are fine and the water crisp. My friend and I hiked for an hour through the jungle with our backpacks on to reach the treehouse as there were no boats running until later that day. The food is basic but delicious and the people are friendly.
