My name is Suzanne Gause and I was born on November 6, 1981 in Portchester, New York. Coming from a
typical Irish Catholic family, I am the oldest of six children, with five brothers and one sister. I
moved to Boca Raton, Florida when i was ten.
I applied to the University of Florida with the hopes of becoming a
pharmacist. However, after one year in chemistry, things did not pan out. I changed my major to
journalism after taking an english course. My english teacher told me I was a "logical writer" and
that I would "make and excellent english major." However, I did not want to be a starving writer,
so I decided to major in journalism.
I am currently a junior at UF, specializing in editing and minoring in english. I am not sure I will
pursue a career in editing or reporting, because I am becoming more attracted to public relations. I
am obsessed with politics, and would like to work on campaigns and elections. However, if I changed
my major this late in my schooling, I wouldn't graduate on time. I am still not sure what I would
like to do with my life, but I know I want to be in the journalism field -- I just don't know specifics yet.
