Bob Dylan Biography

Bob Dylan was born as Robert Allen Zimmerman on May 24, 1941 in Duluth, Minn. After one semester at the University of Minnesota, Dylan dropped out of college and hitchhiked to New York City, where he began playing folk music in the coffee houses of Greenwich Village.

Dylan released his first album for Columbia Records in 1962 simply titled "Bob Dylan." To date, he has now made 43 albums and continues to tour constantly, playing exciting live shows in front of a variety of different age groups.

Dylan brought a new brand of folk music to the mainstream that combined poetry, activism and heart-felt lyrics that continue to appeal to many generations.
