The Rules of the Women's United Soccer Association (WUSA) are pretty much the same as the FIFA Laws of the Game.
- The Dimensions of the Field
Length: minimum 100 yds
maximum 130 yds
Width: minimum 50 yds
maximum 100 yds
- The Ball
The ball has to be spherical, between 450g and 410g in weight with a circumference between 28 ins and 27 ins.
- Players
A match is played by two teams, each no more than eleven players, and one being the goalkeeper.
- Safety
A player is forbidden to use equipment or wear anything which is dangerous to himself or another player. This includes any kind of jewellery.
- The Authority of the Referee
It is the job of the referee to control each match by enforcing the laws of the game. He has full authority.
- Periods of Play
The match lasts two periods of 45 minutes. Players are entitled to an interval at half-time. The half-time interval must not exceed 15 minutes.
- Ball Out of Play
The ball is out of play when it has fully crossed the touch line whether on the ground or in the air or if the referee stops play.
- Ball In Play
The ball is in play at all other times.
- Goals Scored
A goal is scored when the whole ball passes over the goal line.
- The Winning Team
The team that scores the most number of goals during a match is the winner. If both teams score an equal number of goals, or if no goals are scored, the match is drawn.
