Here are descriptions of the newspapers where my byline has appeared

The Alligator
is owned by Campus Communications. The largest independent college newspaper in the nation, the Alligator
began publishing in 1906. Alligator staff members have won William Randolph Hearst awards, the college
equivalent of the Pulitzer Prize, and Society of Professional Journalists awards. A board consisting of
University of Florida students and professors oversee the Alligator and choose its editor and managing editors.
The editor and managing editors for print and new media pick their own staff. Alligator staff members typically
forgo the stereotypical university experience for a college life filled with daily deadlines, adrenaline and
miserly wages. The Alligator provides the best basis for a newspaper career. Its graduates have invaded nearly
every newspaper in Florida.

The Duluth News Tribune
is owned by the Knight Ridder corporation. Nestled in downtown
Duluth, the News Tribune covers northeast Minnesota and Superior, WI. The newspaper boasts a
circulation of 70,000 and is distributed in Minnesota, Wisconsin and the upper peninsula
of Michigan. The News Tribune consistently wins awards in the Minnesota Associated Press
contest. The newspaper is a good place for young writers to launch their career, according to
Arlene Morgan's 100 best newspapers list.

The Palm Beach Post
is owned by Cox Communications. Situated on Florida's east coast, the Post competes and often beats a few
large daily newspapers in its circulation area. The Post has a good mix of young and more experienced reporters.
Several University of Florida graduates have gone on to work for the Post in recent years. Young reporters find
that it's a wonderful place to learn.

The Roanoke Times
is owned by Landmark Communications.
The 100,000 circulation daily has offices in Roanoke
and Christiansburg. The third largest regional daily in Virginia, the Times provides a good
look into life in rural Virginia.

Roll Call
is owned by The Economist Group in London. A leading political paper in the nation's capital,
Roll Call's target audience is Capitol Hill workers. Publishing since 1955, Roll Call provides an insiders
perspective on Congress. The newspaper, which comes out three times a week, features diverse commentary.

The St. Petersburg Times
is owned by the Poynter Institute. One of Florida's largest daily newspapers, the Times is known for its
ability to tell in-depth stories in St. Petersburg and around the state. Times staff members constantly
win American Society of Newspaper Editors awards, including its prestigious Best Newspaper Writing Award.
The Times competes with and often beats the Tampa Tribune.

USA TODAY
is owned by Gannett.
The largest circulating newspaper in the nation, USA TODAY is published five times per week.
The newspaper is divided into News, Money, Life and Sports. Since USA TODAY
began publishing in 1982, some critics have said the newspaper has filled a void in the industry.
Others call USA TODAY the epitome of fast-food journalism because it bombards readers with many
snipets of information.
