I wish I had photographs of Chattanooga to show you, but I have none. So you'll have to trust me when I say that Chattanooga is worth visiting.
If you're a U.S. history buff, you can take a trip to Lookout Mountain and visit various historical sites of the Battle of Lookout Mountain.
If you're more into the sciences, Chattanooga is the home of the Tennessee Aquariam, which houses a jellyfish room that is both aesthetically and scientifically mind-blowing. Visit the aquarium's website at www.tennis.org (the link will open up in a new window).
The Chattanooga Choo Choo main station has been converted into a hotel. A Holiday Inn, to be precise, but don't let that deter you from staying there. They serve a phenominal breakfast, and you have the option of staying in train car. Beyond that, it's centrally located and has two amazing pools, one indoor, one outdoor, both with slides. And that's just the tip of the iceberg. Visit choochoo.com (the link will open up in a new window) to make reservations, hear the song (the Glen Miller version mentioned in the "Chattanooga" link) and even learn a little bit of the Choo Choo's history.
Keep in mind that all of this is from my eight year-old perspective...and I'm sure a lot has changed since then. Visit chattanoogafun.com (the link will open up in a new window), a refreshingly useful (and official!) site to planning a trip to Chattanooga, whether you prefer the traditionally tourist-y or offbeat experience.
