The Wood is Old
"The Wood Song" by Emily Sailers of the Indigo Girls always reminds me of my two best friends in the world, Jenn Wester and Amy Varner. These pictures are from our trip west in 2003. All pictures were taken by one of us. I shot the above panoramic of Sedona and compiled it in Photoshop.
Jenn smiles from the South Rim of the Grand Canyon in Arizona. People ask me if the background is real. It is.

Here I am freezing at the Grand Canyon. I never dreamt May in Arizona could be so cold.

Amy poses with the South Rim of the Grand Canyon behind her.
"The thin horizon of a plan is almost clear. My friends and I have had a
tough time... bruising our brains hard up against change..."

Amy, Jenn and I are on an overlook of a red rock formation in Sedona, Ariz.
"Now I see we're in the boat in two by twos, only the heart that we have for a tool we could use. And the very close quarters are hard to get used to... love weighs the hold down with its weight..."

Amy and I stand on the precipice of a giant meteor crater miles wide in Arizona.
"The wood is tired and the wood
is old. We'll make it fine if the
weather holds but if the weather
holds we'll have missed the point,
that's where I need to go."
