On my way to a retreat at the BCM, I accidentally hit an oppossum with my car. I had never hit an animal before, so it scared me. I had recently seen a presentation by PETA, so I was sure that an advocate was lurking around the road waiting to turn me in for animal cruelty.Thinking fast, I lifted the injured animal into the trunk of my car, placing it on an old tarp. I took the maimed beast to the veterinarian's office, where he was nursed back into health. The nurses there thought it was hilarious that someone would bother bringing in a wild and wounded animal.
I saved the day for the oppossum while saving myself from any altercations with animal rights' groups.
