University of Florida, College of Journalism and Communications

Teaching Assistant for RTV 2100 "Writing for the Electronic Media."

Duties include the supervision of two writing labs

and the grading of story assignments.

Fall of 2000 through present

Classic 89/WUFT-FM, University of Florida's NPR Affiliate

Part-time Morning Edition host and long-form feature reporter.

Fall of 2000 through present

North Florida Journal, WUFT-TV, University of Florida's PBS Affiliate

Part-time reporter/ segment producer of introductory packages

for the half hour public affairs show.

Spring of 2001 through present

WMKY Radio, Morehead State's NPR Affiliate

Duties as a spot news and long-form feature reporter,

producer (acquired digital editing skills using the "Fast Editor" program),

announcer (ATC and Weekend Edition host), and board operator.

Fall of 1996 - May of 2000

Host of "Health Matters", a one-hour, live talk show

produced monthly in conjunction with the Fleming County Hospital.

April of 2000 - July of 2000

WLEX-TV/ 18 ACTION NEWS, NBC Affiliate, Lexington, KY

News internship which included story gathering in the field,

writing VO/SOTS, operating the teleprompter and other duties.

Fall of 1999 - May of 2000

Fox 56/WDKY-TV, Lexington, KY

Productions internship which included producing promos,

going on commercial shoots, voicing-over commercials,

and digital editing using the Mac Video Cube.

Summer 1999

NewsCenter, MSU's weekly cable news show

Internship duties included producing news packages, editing,

anchoring, and working as director, camera operator, floor director,

assistant director, VTR operator, etc. during the live production of the show.

Fall of 1998 - May of 2000

MSU's Upward Bound Program

Instructor for the six-week summer component of the program.

Taught "Introductory German", "Broadcast Journalism", and "Electronic Media".

June - July of 2000

Computer Lab

Work-study position, duties included supervising the lab

and helping students with computer-related problems.

Summer of 1996 - May of 2000

KET/Star Channel at MSU

Camera Operator during a live production.

NAHLS/NAAAS National Conference in Houston, TX

Helped organize the conference in 1997, 1998, 1999 and 2000.

Presented research paper "The Confederate Flag: A Symbol Of Racism

Or A Symbol Of Southern Pride?" at 1999 conference

(which was published in conference proceedings).

And presented research paper at 2000 conference titled

"Race Relations in the Media: Taking a Closer Look at Lifetime's Any Day Now".


*Financed part of my college education through academic scholarships and working

an average of 20 hours per week.

*Had various part-time jobs all through high school, which include working in a law office,

being a secretary's aid for a stock company,waitress, sales person, and others.
