The Experience
In the Summer of 2007, I was given the opportunity to participate in the Florida State College of Law Summer for Undergraduates Program. I had no idea what to expect. At the time, I was unsure about attending law school, and what's more, I had no idea what I could do to adequately prepare myself for the journey and challenge it would most likely be. Enter the FSU Summer for Undergraduates Program. The program was an intensive workshop for students interested in law school and a career in the legal profession, and it was one of the best experiences of my life.
What we did
During the course of a about a month, I learned to think and act like a law student and an attorney through LSAT workshop sessions, constitutional and legal writing classes taught by actual law professors at FSU Law, networking events with attorneys and judges in Tallahassee, and the preparation and presentation of an oral argument. The program also offers students free room and board and $500 to cover travel expenses, not to mention, lifelong friendships.
