Kara's Personal Web Page

My name is Kara Carnley Murrhee, and I am graduate student at the University of Florida in the College of Journalism and Communications. I am a second-year master's student, studying media law in the college of journalism at UF. I hope to begin law school in the fall of 2009.

I am also a teaching assistant for MMC 2100, Writing for Mass Communication, an undergraduate course in the College of Journalism and Communications. Throughout the semester, we teach students basic news writing skills, from putting together a basic news release to taking photographs to working with content management systems, in hopes that they will be better prepared when they enter the job field.

Skills, such as knowing how to blog or put pictures up on Facebook are valuable in today's increasingly technologically-influenced society. But, as my MMC 2100 professor says, "Technology is good... if it works." That is why I am interested in taking the course, Communication on the Internet-- to know how it works.

"There might not be a way to save newspapers, but there ought to be a way to save journalism."

This Web site is part of an assignment for the Communication on the Internet class I am taking at the University of Florida. As part of the assignment requirements, we have been asked to put together several Web pages that include information about our hobbies, places we like to travel and other relevant things about us. Although we are given basic organizational topics to follow, I have been responsible for designing the structure and layout of the Web pages as well as the information collected on these pages.

As you browse my Web site, I hope that you enjoy finding out a little about me.

Thank you!
