Favorite Director:Jodie Foster
Favorite Director: Steven Spielberg
Favorite Movie: L.A. Confidential
Jodie Foster is one of the most beautiful and most talented actresses in Hollywood today.
From her stunning performances to her awe-inspiring directorial stints, Jodie has become one of the foremost talent players in the entertainment capital of the world.
I've first noticed Jodie in the film "Silence Of The Lambs". I like that movie so much not just because of its magnificent plot, but mostly because of Clarice Starling herself. She made quite an impact on me that I started looking for other movies of her.
My favorite Jodie's movie is "Contact". In this movie, her performance was great.
A wise thespian and an aesthetic woman, Jodie Foster is indeed Hollywood Divinity
Personified. For us who revel in her elegance and charm, for us who extracts
happiness and relief from her motion pictures, we are the lucky ones.
Jodie Foster filmography
Steven Spielberg is the most commercially successful filmmaker in Hollywood history.
He is real genius. All movies which he directed and produced are successful.
Steven Spielberg's first films were made at a time when directors were the most important people in Hollywood, and his more recent ones at a time when marketing controls the industry. That he has remained the most powerful filmmaker in the world during both periods says something for his talent and his flexibility. No one else has put together a more popular body of work, yet within the entertainer there is also an artist capable of The Color Purple and Schindler's List. When entertainer and artist came fully together, the result was E.T., the Extra-Terrestrial, a remarkable fusion of mass appeal and stylistic mastery.
This talented man is the premiere movie director of the baby boomer generation, and now, as that generation ages, he is bringing a new maturity to his work. He only seems to be getting better with age, and when you consider that his first two films won Cannes Film Festival Awards and Oscars, Spielberg is truly headed for legendary status.
Steven Spielberg filmography
This
is the most favorite movie. I saw this in 1997 at Kinema theater. Before I saw
this movie, I never expected. But after seeing this movie, L.A. Confidential
became my favorite movie. Great plot, great performance (especially I liked
Russell Crowe's performance.), great directing, all of this movie was good. If
you don't see this movie yet, go to the video rental shop and just rent it.
Plot and Synopsis
Based on the best-selling novel by James Ellroy, this award-winning crime drama
explores both the dark side of the Los Angeles police force and Southern
California's criminal underbelly in the early 1950s, when Hollywood was still
seen as America's capital of sophistication, glitter, and glamour. Dudley Smith
(James Cromwell) is the
head of the L.A.P.D. and is loyal to his officers and eager to turn a blind eye
to violence or corruption within his department, as long as it's the "bad
guys" who are getting hurt. Bud White (Russell
Crowe) is a police detective whose violent and cynical nature is often at
war with his basic sense of decency and justice. Ed Exley (Guy
Pearce) is a beat cop-turned-detective whose strict by-the-book philosophy
and willingness to blow the whistle on other officers is balanced by a shrewd
and opportunistic understanding of the internal politics of the department. And
Jack Vincennes (Kevin
Spacey) is a flashy "Hollywood" detective who serves as technical
advisor for the TV series Badge of Honor. He is also in cahoots with Sid
Hudgeons (Danny De
Vito), publisher of the scandal sheet Hush Hush, who throws kickbacks to
Vincennes in exchange for being brought along when showbiz figures get busted.
White, Exley, and Vincennes find themselves drawn into a tangled and sticky web
of violence and betrayal following a multiple murder at a coffee shop that is
believed to be part of an effort by Mickey Cohen (Paul
Guilfoyle) to consolidate his hold on organized crime in L.A. This lead
appears to be connected to the discovery of a bizarre pornography and call-girl
ring operated by Pierce Patchett (David
Strathairn), whose women are given plastic surgery so that they more closely
resemble well-known movie stars. White's role in the investigation is
complicated when he falls for Lynn Bracken (Kim
Basinger), one of Patchett's prostitutes who is the spitting image of Veronica
Lake.L.A.
Confidential was nominated for nine Academy awards and won two, with Curtis
Hanson (who directed) and Brian
Helgeland honored for Best Adapted Screenplay and Kim
Basinger taking home a statuette as Best Supporting Actress.
