Going out in Hollywood is unlike anything I've witnessed before. Sunset strip is our mecca. Years ago our rock'n'roll heroes walked that very street. The sunset strip is home to clubs such as the Whisky a Go-Go, the Rainbow Bar and Grill and The Roxy.

Within the first few weeks of our trip, we established our routine. Every monday night we frequented the Viper Room, the bar that houses the 1980s hair metal tribute band known as Metal Shop. This band was featured in the Discover card advertisments a few years back. This talented band puts on a hilarious show week after week. When watching this spectacle, I almost feel like I have been transported back to the 1980s.

On Thursday's we went to the Cat Club, owned by former Stray Cat drummer Slim Jim Phantom. The feature entertainment consisted of an All-Star cover band originated by Gilby Clarke of Guns n' Roses and Tracii Guns of L.A. Guns. The current line-up is Ryan Roxie, Stefan Adika, Erik Dover and Slim Jim himself. The place is always packed.

Saturday night is all about the Rainbow Bar and Grill. The Rainbow is definitely stuck back in time. Songs by Cinderella, Motley Crue and Poison blare over the sound system, and a washed-up rocker is never far from sight.
