belize
After standing in the middle of poverty
I realized there are more important things in life
then let's say football
When people have nothing, where do they turn?
In Belize, it's to family, friends and even strangers
I was a stranger in this third world country
But I felt at home at the end of my trip
I didn't want to return
These people are trusting of one another
Opening their homes to me
and telling me stories about their lives
And teaching me a thing or two about what's important
My eyes have opened to what matters most

There's a scene in Felicity's opening credits
that captures my life
Standing by the subway
Not knowing what lies ahead
or behind
If I missed the train
or if it's coming for me

leaf day

Today I watched a leaf blow across the road,
kind of like the bag in American Beauty
It floated in the air
took a dive, scraped across the cement
picked itself up again
and soared a foot or two
danced, then fell, but caught itself
before it hit the ground.
This symbolizes life.
Like a leaf.
