For more than two decades, I've had the priviledge of reporting and anchoring newscasts in several cities across the United States. For most viewers it amounts to between 30 and 60 minutes of events and features peppered with sports and weather. But the average viewer is unaware of exactly what's involved in putting together that newscast. So, for the next few minutes, I will attempt to remove the mystery and share with you the day in the life of a television news operation.
