About Me

Me

In the Simplest Form

My name is Melissa Mahadeo, and I am a fourth year public relations and psychology major at the University of Florida. Although I am originally from New York, I've spent more than half of my life residing in a little town called Pembroke Pines in south Florida. This is the type of town that often takes on the Cheer's reference of "where everybody knows your name."

I am also a first-generation American in my family, who originally relocated from the very small, typically overlooked country of Guyana in South America. Although I was not born there, my grandparents refuse to leave their quaint little home, and thus I have spent a least one month each year in the small, excruciatingly hot country ever since I was born.

I guess these reasons practically guaranteed I'd be the typical small town girl with hopes and dreams of making it big in the big bad city. California, New York and Chicago are the only places I can imagine moving to in the future. I know life isn't one big fairy-tale bubble, but when it comes to locations, I prefer to believe these cities truly embody perfection and are my version of the perfect white-picket fenced house some girls dream of.
