My Adventures
"The world is a book and those who do not travel read only one page" -St. Augustine
I am an explorer by nature and think that traveling is vital to growth. I want to meet as many new people and go to as many new places as I possibly can because I know they all have something valuable to offer me.
Me Around the USA
New York
I visited New York City in April with my mom and sister. We saw a show on Broadway, walked the Brooklyn Bridge, took a ferry ride by Ellis Island and did lots of shopping. It was an amazing trip.
Maine
I fell in love with the north coast when I visited Maine my senior year of high school. I went with a friend for a weeklong trip in June of 2006. We spent our days out on the lake, boating, inner tubing and laughing so hard it hurt. I still remember the rush I got after plunging into the water, cold and full of fish.
The nights were spent around bon fires, boiling the fresh lobsters we purchased from a shack on the side of the road. After getting past the guilt of eating the animal that I had purchased live and named Big Red, it was the most delightful meal of my life. Gathered around the fire after a day of sailing, exhausted and slightly sunburned, nothing has ever tasted so good. Although it used to be my once-a-year special birthday dinner, Florida lobster just doesn't seem like such a big deal anymore.
Hawaii
I am so grateful for the two years I lived in Hawaii. I was opened up to so many amazing experiences that I will never forget. I learned to surf, danced hula, jumped off waterfalls, hiked volcanoes, and camped on black sand beaches to name just a few. Kailua-Kona will always be a part of me and a place I will continue to revisit throughout my life.
Colorado
I visit Colorado annually during the winter months to snowboard. I have been to Boulder, Vail and Telluride.
Me Abroad
Unfortunatley, I haven't done much traveling outside of the U.S. It's definitely on my to-do list! Once I finish school I plan to backpack around Europe with my sister.
Costa Rica
The summer before I started high school (in 2003), my mom took our whole family on a month long surf trip to Playa Grande, Costa Rica. Days that weren't spent surfing from sunrise to sunset were filled with horseback rides, hikes through the rainforest, zip lining and exploring. The experience opened me up to a new culture and inspired me. I want to become fluent in Spanish and move there for one year of my life.
The Bahamas
I absolutely love the Bahamas. I have spent one week for the past two summers at Fernandez Bay Villiage on Cat Island. It is a beautiful out island and home to the highest point of elevation in the Bahamas (which is only 200ft above sea level).
Random things about my travels
- There is no day light savings time in Hawaii
- I flew from Hawaii to Florida alone at the age of 12
- I once missed my flight to New York
