My love for New York is kind of biased since I was born there. I lived there until I was 10 years old (I know), but I've gone back almost every year since we moved.
Every year that my family and I travel to NY, I get to explore new aspects that I may not have seen had I still lived there. When I visited my sister in 2006, I got to visit the Museum of Modern Art and the American Museum of Natural History.
The following summer, my brother and I acted like real tourist. We took pictures at the Top of the Rock Observation Deck.
We also saw Romeo and Juliet in Central Park and toured NBC Studios and Radio City Music Hall. I even got to take a picture with a real Rockette!Summer of 2009 was probably my favorite trip. I always dreamed of taking a tour around a major city on one of those double-decker buses. This summer, it finally happened. My siblings and I took a 2-hour tour of Downtown NYC with City Sights Tours. It was such a unique way to see the city. I learned a lot about the history of the city and many of the stories about the buildings.
Check this out. Did you know that the Macy's Department near the Empire State Building takes up the entire block? But the eight-story building isn't the original NYC building. The original is located somewhere in the Fashion District and was started by a merchant sailor named R.H. Macy.
