I just learned to crochet about a year ago. So far, I love it!

I always thought it was neat to create something from nothing (much like hand-coding this site!). So, I set out to teach myself how to crochet. On an impulse, I bought the beginner's kit "I Taught Myself To Crochet" and a spool of yarn. After learning a few basic stitches, I was hooked (so to speak).

A few weeks later, my mom and I drove to Ocala to visit the craft emporium Hobby Lobby. Three hours later, I emerged with several spools of yarn, a needle case, an amigurumi book and beads. Ever since that trip, I've become more engrossed in crocheting, and I plan to make winter socks later this semester. I crocheted a trio of eggs for this past Easter as well.

Some projects I have in waiting include a toy elephant, a monkey and a baby blanket.
