Doing it Reitz
When not trying to complete my journalism degree, I have one other focus: the Reitz Union. If I could, I'd lease out one of the hotel rooms because it would make my life easier.
I'm president of Reitz Union Board Entertainment, the student-run programming board that plans nightly entertainment for the union, and marketing committee chairwoman of the Reitz Union Board of Managers, which oversees policy changes and budget administration for the entire union.
RUB Entertainment
My first experience with RUB Entertainment was as an audience member. I had just sat through a presentation by the creator of Post Secret, when RUB members announced my favorite band, TV on the Radio, would be performing the next week. At that point, I was sold. I turned in an application the next week.
Reitz Union Board of Managers
Every other Tuesday morning at 7am--no, that is not a typo--I attend bi-weekly Board of Managers meetings. During these meetings we basically discuss every tiny detail of the Reitz Union, and try to brainstorm ways to make it better.
My role on the board is Marketing Committee Chairwoman. I oversee a four-member committee that works hard to make sure you know everything the union has to offer.
